1831 (Delhi) – 1905 (Hyderabad) • Fasih-ul-Mulk
"A flamboyant and aristocratic poet, Dagh Dehlviis credited with bringing a sense of playfulness, sharp wit, and colloquial charm—often referred to as 'Karkhan-e-Dehlvi'—back to the Urdu ghazal. He survived the violent upheavals of the 1857 mutiny in Delhi and eventually moved to Hyderabad. There, he reached the pinnacle of success, becoming the highest-paid poet of his time and serving as the poetry tutor to the Nizam. He is also famous for mentoring a young Allama Iqbal, leaving a lasting impact on modern Urdu poetry."
