Mohsin Sahil

Mohsin Sahil (born 7 January 1990, Umarkhed, Maharashtra) is a contemporary Urdu poet, educator, and writer based in Mumbai, India. Emerging as part of the new generation of Urdu ghazal poets in the 21st century, he represents a voice that remains rooted in the classical tradition while expressing contemporary experiences with originality and sensitivity. After completing his higher education, he pursued a career as a teacher in Mumbai. His academic qualifications include M.A., B.Ed., DSM, DUG, and other credentials in Urdu, Education, Marathi, and Psychology. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Urdu Literature. This diverse academic background has played a significant role in shaping his literary outlook and poetic expression. Mohsin Sahil's poetry is marked by introspection, emotional depth, and a keen observation of life. His ghazals reflect the complexities of human existence through themes of love, pain, struggle, hope, aspiration, and self-discovery. His language is simple, fluent, and engaging, allowing readers to connect naturally with the emotions and ideas expressed in his verses. His first collection of poetry, Beech Samandar Sahil, established him as a promising voice in contemporary Urdu literature. Through his poetry, Mohsin Sahil continues to uphold the rich tradition of the Urdu ghazal while presenting it with a fresh and modern sensibility. In recognition of his literary and educational contributions, Mohsin Sahil has received several prestigious honours. He was awarded the 'New Talent in Poetry' Award (2021) by the Maharashtra Urdu Sahitya Academy, Mumbai. His debut collection, Beech Samandar Sahil, received the Best Poetry Book Award (2024) from the Maharashtra Urdu Sahitya Academy, Mumbai. In the field of education, he was honoured with the Mayor Award (2025) by the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai for his outstanding contribution to education.
